Revlon Nail Art: Neon in High Voltage

I have a penchant for obnoxiously bright nail polish.  You know, the kind of bright that burns your eyes if you look at it too long and leaves fluorescent trails of color when you move your hands because the color has been burned into your retinas - that kind of bright.  I don't know what it is, I just love "highlighter" colored nail polish, evidenced by the fact that my two other favorite colors are Orly's Passion Fruit and Sinful Color's Innocent.  I think neon colors are the unexpected, bright-ass pop of color that shows you don't take yourself too seriously - you know, cool but not too cool for school cool.  So when I saw the Revlon Nail Art Neon display I just had to check it out!  I picked out the color High Voltage - a bright neon orange. I actually really like the color, but I'm not sure about the product as a whole.

Sinful Color in Innocent (Back Left); Orly in Passion Fruit (Back Right); Revlon Nail Art Neon in High Voltage (Front Center)

The Revlon Nair Art Neon Polish is a double sided product.  One side has an opaque white base, and the other has the actual nail color.  It's basically the adult version of when I used to paint my nails with white out and color them in with highlighter during class.  Actually, it's pretty much the exactly same thing.

I used two coats of both the white and the orange.  I felt that the consistency of the polish was a little thick and gloopy, and the bottle was a little awkward to hold.  Both of these things contributed to an unusually messy applicationHowever the polish dried quickly and ended up having a semi-matte finish, which I think adds to the brightness.  I also felt that the polish was beginning to separate already, and I had to shake it up for a while before I applied it.  I don't know if this is a fluke or an issue with the formulation...

With Flash (L); Without Flash (R) - the true neon orange color just wouldn't show up on camera!

Overall I like it.  It's not great polish, but it's fun polish to wear.  I think it's a bit pricey for what you get so I probably won't be getting any more from this series but I'll definitely be wearing High Voltage throughout the spring and summer.

What do you guys think about neon/bright polish - yay? nay? meh?  I'd love to hear what you think :)

    1. It's a little bit more in-your-face orange than in the pictures haha but I like that. And yeah the white undercoat really makes the color pop. Thanks for checking out my blog!
