Monolid Madness #1: Nanette Lepore NYFW Inspired

I was really excited to see so many (I guess it was more like a handful, but still) Asian models at New York Fashion Week this year!  It's really awesome to see beautiful monolidded ladies rocking some high fashion looks - plus it makes it way easier to re-create the looks I like (a nice bonus!).

I was really inspired by this picture from the Nanette Lepore show:
I love the colors and the somewhat haphazard application.  It looks like they both just grabbed a brush and threw on some eyeshadow...and just happen to look edgy and cool when they finish, because it's always that easy, right?  I wish!

The look itself is fairly easy to do and I think it compliments a monolid eye shape nicely.  Here's how I re-created this look.

First I applied Make Up For Ever's HD Foundation in 120 using a Real Techniques Buffing brush.  I filled in my brows to give them some shape, but kept it light since it doesn't look like the models had anything on their brows at all.

Next I mixed Lt. Bronze and Gold eyeshadows from the Lorac Pro Palette and swept it over the lip, fading up to the crease.  I also ran that on the lower lash line.  I couldn't get the color to show up on film, but believe me it's there.  It's a very light wash of color.

Taking Deep Purple from the Lorac Pro Palette, I applied it to the outer and inner corners of my lid, in an inverted triangle shape.  Sweeping the color up and out, I followed the natural curve of my eyeball to blend out the color.

Using Garnet from the Lorac Pro Palette, I blended the edges of the Deep Purple and taking the color up to the crease and leaving the center of the lid bare except for the Lt. Bronze/Gold mix.

Finally I went back and deepened some of the colors, which had lost some intensity when I was blending them.  I lined my lower waterline with a black eyeliner, curled my lashes, and popped on some mascara.  I didn't use a highlighter on my browbone because I felt that it would be too old-fashioned for this look.

Lastly, I used my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (I'm so in love with it by the way) to apply a matte bronzer on the tops of my cheekbones, close to the temples.  I used Mac's Give Me Sun, which turned out to be very close to the color used in the original shot.  I also put on L'Oreal's Fairest Nude and rubbed in the color with my fingers.  I used a tiny bit of Revlon's ColorStay Ultimate Suede in Private Viewing in the center of my lips to further nude them out.

And the final result:

I really like how this look turned out.  It's really quick and easy to apply and is sultry and sexy without being too much.  I made it slightly more wearable by blending the colors more than in the picture, but I think it's still true to the original look.  I'm definitely going to wear this next time I go out!

Is this a look you guys would rock on a night out?  Are there any NYFW runway looks that you're excited to try out?  I'd love to hear what you guys think :)
